Your website is the welcome mat of your business.

Websites are a crucial part of your business. It's often the first impression people have of your business. Did you know that it only takes people about 7 seconds to determine if they want to hire you or buy your products? It's critical that you have a website that is responsive, information is easily found, and is visually appealing. 68% of people think that the look of your website (layout and photography) is important in a website (source). Is your website doing a good job of keeping their attention and funneling them towards your primary goal?

Part of my website process is to help you decide how you want to guide people through your site. Having engaging content and images, strong calls to action and an easy to use and beautiful to look at website is what can get you new clients.

If you have a website that needs minor updates or maintenance I have an hourly rate that'll be easy on your budget, while giving your website the help you're looking for.

I see each client as a partnership. I don’t see you as just another client and won’t treat you as such either. I believe what you do is amazing and want to partner with you and make your business stand-out visually. I'm highly-collaborative as I love to not only design, but to teach clients more about the world of design and how to use it to their advantage.

One of the most mentioned subjects with my clients is their experiences with previous designers. Whether it’s that they didn’t really listen to the client or they weren’t trained on how to use their site after it was launched; that’s not how Lux + Vita works. No matter what you’ve hired me for, I will listen to you and take everything you say about your project to heart. I'm not here to just crank out designs - I'm here to serve you and create custom designs that speak to your target audience. All client homework is designed to get to know who you are, what you do, who your target audience is and how we can best serve you to reach the goals you’ve set for our project together. I don’t take my research on your business and target audience lightly and I hope you don’t either, which is why I ask you to complete all of your homework before the project even starts so that you have plenty of time to really process the information and communicate exactly what you want in your project.

Now let's dive into the actual process!

01 | Discover

Before we start your project, you'll have some homework - a Website Planning Workbook and a secret Pinterest board. While you're working on your homework I'll be auditing the content on your current website (if you have one).

02 | Details

We'll have a kick-off call to go over your Website Planning Workbook, inspiration, and goals to make sure we're on the same page. By the end of this first week I'll get started on the design process.

03 | Design

It's time to dive into the layout for your new site! I'll create concepts of your site layout and send them over for you to approve and give feedback.

04 | Content

We're half-way there! All of your content will be due at the beginning of this phase. It's important to me that your content be amazing which is why content isn't due until you've seen the layout of your site.

05 | Develop

During this week I'll be optimizing all of your images for web and adding your content to the site. I'll also be checking to make sure everything looks great on desktop, tablet and mobile, and that it all works perfectly!

06 | Launch

It’s time to get those party poppers out and get your launch strategy ready! We'll hop on one last call where we'll go over the entire site and make any minor tweaks needed to launch.

Why would I need custom buttons? Part of all website packages are 'custom buttons' - based on your branding (fonts, colors, graphics, etc) I like to design graphics for websites so that your branding flows smoothly onto your website. Many times buttons that come in templates don't fit the style of your brand, causing them to stand out (in the wrong way). By designing custom buttons it not only helps to take away the cookie-cutter template feel, but also ensures that your brand's personality shines through.

Is copywriting included? Currently copywriting is not included, however I do look at all content to make sure it's strong enough to capture your audience's attention and cause them to take action. In the on-boarding phase of your project I will look over your current site and make notes as to what changes could be made. Copywriting is such an important part of your site, which is why I do encourage my clients to hire a copywriter so that they can have the best conversions. During the design phase you'll be shown the new layout of your site which will help you determine how much content you'll need on your site (calls to action, buttons, headers, etc.) - if you feel that you don't currently have enough content on your site we can talk about working on that together (for an additional fee), or I can suggest a copywriter you can hire.

Are themes/templates included? Squarespace and Showit sites have free themes available that come with your account, while Wordpress requires you purchase one. The purchase of a theme is not included in the packages, however I'm more than happy customize a theme that you've purchased for Squarespace or Showit. If you'd like to use Wordpress, part of my process is to help you find a theme that will work best for your needs and have an easy backend to maintain after the launch.

What else do I need to do before the project start date? One of the biggest pieces of homework you will have (and may already have completed!) is to purchase a domain name and a hosting plan before our project start date. If you need help figuring out who to use let me know and I can recommend several sites to check out. Before the project start date you'll also have homework to work on - a Website Planning Workbook and secret Pinterest board. I recommend that you add in 2 weeks before your project start date to work on your workbook as there is a lot of content that will not only help with the design of your website, but there may be questions in there about your business that you haven't yet taken time to define (i.e. mission statement). While your content isn't due until half-way through the project, I do recommend adding some extra time in before the start date so that you don't feel rushed to complete your homework.

If I'm currently using one platform (like Wordpress) will you move my site over to a new platform (like Squarespace)? Absolutely! It's a little bit of a process so we'll need to discuss this in our discovery call to determine the best way to proceed.

What's your payment process, do you do installments or all at once? Payments are broken up into 3 installments. In order to secure a place on my calendar, a non-refundable 25% deposit is required. Half-way through the project 50% of the invoice will be due, and before the final files are handed over, the rest of the invoice will be due.

Do your rates include the native/working files? No. There are several reasons for this, including licensing restrictions on stock, fonts and other resources. If you would like the native files I can send you links to the fonts and other resources used in your project for purchase. There are some projects where the source (native) files may be included or they may be available for purchase. If you're interested in receiving the original files please let me know and we'll see what we can do. Read this article on copyrights + native files.

Do you offer discounts? I love helping others get their business or ministry where they want it to be. With my 7+ years of experience serving local churches, I understand how hard it can be to design things that speak your message, and reach your target audience. Most times, it's because you don't have the time or the budget, which is why I want to be there to help. I have a discount available for all non profit organizations; because I understand the struggles you have and the goals you're trying to achieve on a limited budget. Just let me know if you're a non profit and I'll add the discount to your project!

Are there any hidden fees? There are only ever additional charges made if any premium features will be needed for your website. Premium features may include images, fonts, plugins, templates and licenses. If you’re using Wordpress please note that the theme is not included in the package rates above. Any and all purchases will be discussed before purchasing.
